City life got ya down? In need of a taste of the wild, wild west now that it's cooling down in the valley? Find your biggest belt buckle and hoof it up to Cave Creek on a Wednesday night for free amateur bull riding (7pm-10pm) and live music/dancing at the Buffalo Chip Saloon. Friday night features professional bull riding (8pm-11pm) and all-u-can-eat fish fry (5pm-10pm).

Every night of the week, there is live music starting at 8pm. Not much of a dancer? You can take a free dance lesson on how to get on your boot-scoot-n-boogie from 7-8pm Thursday and Sunday nights at the Buffalo Chip Saloon. Belting out tunes more your style? Tuesdays karaoke night lets you sing all about your lost girlfriend, house, horse, and dog that ran away.

The Buffalo Chip Saloon has an indoor and outdoor setting, and if you plan to watch the bull riding, keep in mind you'll be outside on wood picnic benches or bleachers, so keep the skirt long enough you won't get a splinter! Layer for the weather, it tends to cool down at night in Cave Creek a bit more than in the city. Also, you'll be walking on uneven dirt ground, so it's the perfect excuse to wear your cowboy boots (I'd avoid flip flops)! Dress is casual and comfortable, so even if you aren't a member of the big belt buckle club, you won't feel out of place at this country bar.

The food gets up and down reviews: they range from heavenly BBQ to meat with good flavor, but a bit to much fat. You'll see all ages enjoying their evenings out at the saloon and hitting up the BBQ buffet (a pound of BBQ, biscuit, and two sides for under $15!). My friend commented as we were driving away that she'd go back for the honey biscuits alone, and we found the corn on the cob a little underwhelming since it was just boiled and served without butter or spices. The "Cowboy Beans" really had a nice western flavor, and we tried a bit of everything for the meat, all of which was tasty!

Overall, this is absolutely a place to take out of town guests and give them a feel for a community location celebrating their country roots! If you have an adventurous Uncle or crazy Aunt, you just might be able to make a memory and get them out on a bull! There were quite a few groups of girls having fun out watching the cowboys, and the staff was all friendly and courteous. For a fun night, and a cowboy experience, ride your horse up north to the Buffalo Chip Saloon - drinks are cheap, the beer is cold, and the bulls are bucking!
