You know when you always see someone checking in at a certain venue on Facebook all the time and it makes you curious? I kept wondering why this person was spending so much time in a Garage and telling the world. Lucky for me, I realized it's a restaurant and a shopping excursion at
Poor Little Rich Girl
put me in the same strip mall as the Garage around lunchtime, and a Groupon Now gave us $20 of food for $10. If you don't have the Groupon App on your phone, you need to download it. No really, like now before you read any more of this article - it gives you so many great deals! FYI - Garage also gives happy hour deals for $2 off wine and $1 off all draft beer if you mention Yelp. You're welcome!
The Garage Restaurant is an actual former garage that's been converted to a sleek, modern eatery, with an Urban neighborhood feel. Decorated with wheels, old gas pumps, and a airplane propeller, the brick and open duct work creates an upscale sports bar. The outdoor patio is amazing for most seasons in Arizona, and inside you'll find a combination of booths, high tops, and leather recliners.
This is my new favorite venue for Grilled Cheese ($8) and Tomato Soup. The tomato soup had a creamy, home made taste with a leaf of fresh basil, and the grilled cheese sandwich we ordered with a spicy pepperjack cheese that made it perfect for dipping in the soup. We also shared a BLT ($8) and can I just say wow! They use thick slabs of apple wood smoked bacon and were not skimpy on the bacon - I counted 8 slices layered with beefsteak tomatoes and Lettuce on toasted Challah bread. Between the sweet potato and waffle fries, I'm kinda sad to say I'd go waffle fries!
Other favorites from Garage Restaurant patrons include the Deviled Eggs (with bacon!), Flatbreads, "Garage Board" of cheese, meat, nuts, olives and sweets, the Shrimp Risotto, and good burgers.
