There are several Phoenix holiday events - but this is one of our favorites! We love looking at Christmas lights, and there's no better place to do that than Zoolights ($13). The entire zoo is illuminated with 3.5 million twinkling lights set to holiday music, 600 light up animals and sculptures, and camel rides ($5). This is a local favorite of Phoenicians around the holidays.
Desert Botanical Garden Luminarias Enjoy the beauty of the desert at night with Las Noches De Las Luminarias ($25). Over 8,000 luminarias light the paths between 10 different musical performers: sip cocoa and listen to music, participate and become part of a handbell ensemble, or sip wine as you stroll through this beautifully illuminated Phoenix Holiday events. Open Dec 8 - 30th.
The North Pole Experience Take your family up to Greer, AZ so they can ride the Candy Cane Express to Santa's Workshop! You can make a night of it and stay at the Molly Butler Lodge, ride the express through it's magical portal to the North Pole, where you and your family will help build toys with the elves, have cookies in Santa's Bakery, and get pictures with Santa. After going through the portal back to the lodge, Mrs Claus will read bedtime stories to the children. And if you go for the all inclusive experience, have breakfast with Santa the next morning! Glendale Glitters begins Thanksgiving weekend and continues from 6-10pm every Friday and Saturday in December, ending Dec 17th. Historic Downtown Glendale is transformed with over 1.5 million lights and is the largest FREE Holiday light display in the valley, making it one of the preferred Phoenix holiday events. There is holiday entertainment, horse drawn carriage rides, shopping, and visits with Santa.
Downtown Phoenix Electric Light Parade - The APS Electric Light Parade takes place along Central Ave. From Montebello to Camelback, to 7th St, to Indian School. This year, the light parade will be Sat, Dec 3, 2011, at 7pm. Bring your chairs and blankets down to this Phoenix holiday event and watch illuminated floats, marching bands, and performers and jump start your holiday spirit!
Arizona Celebration of Lights 2011 The Arizona Celebration of Lights is a drive through display of more than 7 million lights and 300 animated displays and is located off 99th Ave and the 101. The display is open Nov 19th, 2011 through Jan 1, 2012 from 5:30-9pm. The cost is $15-$20 per vehicle.
Holiday Ice Rink at CityScape This is one of the newer options of holiday things to do in Phoenix: the CityScape outdoor ice rink will be open Nov 26th - January 11,2012 from 5pm-11pm. Admission is $10 and includes skate rental. This is the perfect activity for the family or date night!
Tempe Fantasy of Lights Parade
This event kicks off the Saturday after Thanksgiving at 6pm with a parade from Mill and 3rd St and ends with Santa who at the end of the parade will be available to visit with children and take gift requests.
Tempe Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade
A unique one of the holiday things to do in Phoenix happens Saturday, Dec 10th at 7pm, the light parades take to the water at the Tempe Beach Park. Admission is free to watch this parade of up to 50 illuminated boats as they float along tempe town lake.
A Christmas Carol This classic Christmas movie based on the novel by Charles Dickens takes the audience through Scrooge's visits from three ghosts. It is brought to the stage at several Venues:

A Christmas Story Based on the motion picture, this play takes us back to the 1940's all American family as Ralphie Parker campaigns for a Red Ryder Air Riffle for Christmas.

Christmas Jukebox at Fountain Hills Community Theater This is the perfect Phoenix holiday event for the person who loves holiday music! Early arriving audience members are invited to select Christmas songs from the jukebox. The cast will then perform the selected Christmas favorites. Tickets are $25, show times are Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm.
The Nutcracker - Ballet Arizona at Symphony Hall Phoenix. Ballet Arizona will be performing this Holiday classic December 9-24th. Tickets range from $17-$121. Since the release of Black Swan, there has been a renewed appreciation for ballet, so make sure to get tickets for this holiday event in Phoenix early!
White Christmas - ASU Gammage This touching holiday story comes to the stage from Dec 6-11. Tickets for this Phoenix holiday event start at $23-$50.
The Elves and The Shoemaker Although it's not a holiday classic, The Elves and The Shoemaker captures the holiday spirit of giving as a poor shoemaker give to the needy and overnight the elves give him much needed help by making shoes for him to sell.
Great Arizona Puppet Theater Phoenix. See this play come to life through puppets November 30th - Dec 24th. Wed-Fri 10am, Sat 10am and 2pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets for this Phoenix holiday event are $6 for children and $8 for adults. $10 the day of the show.
Fountain Hills Community Theater Fountain Hills. This interpretation makes The Elves and The Shoemaker into a musical that will get your toes tapping! Tickets from $12-$15 December 2 - 18th.
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park Holiday Lights From December 9th-30th, hop aboard the train and ride through a festive holiday light display. This Winter wonderland is free, train rides are $2 each. Santa will be at the park through Dec 3rd.
