Phoenix Shooting Ranges

There are several Phoenix shooting ranges that give gun enthusiasts a place to fine tune their aim and their weapons:

Ben Avery Shooting Facility is a 5 star rated facility located in North Phoenix off 1-17 and Carefree Highway. It features a variety of gun ranges, archery ranges, and a clay target center. The facility is closed Monday and Tuesday and all major holidays. They offer range all day shooting for $7, and under 17 is free. Free classes for beginners are also available for shooters age 16 and up. The Sure Shots class for novices is held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, and the Annie Oakley program designed for women is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Phoenix Rod and Gun Club is another of Phoenix shooting ranges at the base of South Mountain next to the Phoenix Police Academy and has a covered, outdoor rifle/pistol range that is open to the public Saturday and Sunday til early afternoon for a fee of $10. During the week and for access to all ranges, PRGC is a members only shooting range. The club has 7 operable ranges and the best equipped Bullseye Pistol Range and only functional Olympic 25 meter fire range in the state. For membership there is a $75 initiation fee, and $90 yearly fee and must have a firearm permit.

Scottsdale Gun Club in North Scottsdale offers 32 indoor lanes in their shooting range equipped with sound dampening technology, a touch screen control panel, and programmable target movement. Hand, machine, and long gun rentals are available, and range fees are $15 an hour, free for members ($50 initiation fee, $30 monthly membership). SGC offers an in house gunsmith, shooting leagues, and classes are available for varying prices.

AZ Shooter's World has two locations, one at 27th Ave and Indian School and the other off the 101 on Cactus Rd. Cost is $15 an hour for adults, offer hand and long gun rentals and free eye and ear protection. There are a variety of classes available, memberships ($99 initiation, $20 monthly), and have a ladies special on Fridays with free firearm rental, range time, and instruction (ammo and targets must be purchased and there is a charge for every hour after the first hour).

Rio Salado Sportsman's Club is in Mesa near Usery Mountain off the 202. It sits on land owned by the Game and Fish Department and features a Pistol Range, covered Smallbore Range, covered long range rifle, and sporting clays range. Daily range fees are $7, and an annual membership is $25 initiation, $85 a year. See the website for open range times and events.
